This blog is done, thanks to anyone who read or interacted with any thoughts that were tossed posted. This blog will just be sitting here, I am not going to take it down or anything, so if you feel like trying to figure out what I was thinking over the past two or three years, feel free to dig around; there are a few hundred posts to waste your time with.
I am planning on doing something else, but I am looking for some collaborators who want to interact on the interweb.
When something else gets going I will post a link
Love ya,
Derek

patience takes speed...
Or a lack thereof... I have found that over the past few months my life has become characterized less by patience and more by a need to be at the next place. I hate this, I was thinking about this today as I was honking my horn for no particular reason while driving. It seems that there is a direct correlation between patience in my life and the speed that my life is flowing at (physically and spiritually, but more physically). This could be why I need out of my work truck, a step away from a life beyond 5 kms an hour.

Kingdom tension
I am currently reading "this beautiful mess" by rick McKinley, am finding great thoughts on the kingdom of God. The idea which has been sticking with me the most over the last day and a bit has been the idea of the tension that is brought through the kingdom. The experience of the kingdom being here but not fully revealed and experienced is something that I am really finding myself in right now.
What makes McKinley's book so great is that he isn't trying to tie up all the loose ends left in scripture. I find this so reassuring, so helpful. KF and I were talking about the tension I have been feeling as of late, the problem I am experiencing isn't just the tension of here and not yet, but mainly of being called to something but not yet stepping out in faith.
Ah life,
On another note, my work is trying to route all of our jobs, today is my first pre-routed day, I have been downtown for forty minutes waiting for my first job to become available.
I had a really great cinnamon bun at a coffee shop around the corner.
Alright
Peace and love

the kingdom is...
Kingdom life is found when we articulate the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who have not yet heard. Jesus is the doorway to the kingdom. But kingdom life thrives also in the beautiful ordinary, not just when we're doing ministry or working at a church.

"he was a self-righteous man"
I just feel that, that is me. So often when I am agitated or really just pissed off it is an extremely self-righteous anger. An anger that I displace from myself, thinking that the world around me is at fault.
There is nothing wrong with anger though; it is healthy and there are times when anger should be felt/experienced/expressed.
Injustice, that demands a response, but at times I find that there is so much injustice around me, the anger that I should experience is just a drip in the ocean. The other day I wept in my truck as I saw two guys scrounge through garbage bags looking for food. That shouldn't happen, but it does.
Did you know people look at you strange when you have a tear in your eye on the skytrain?
df
PS - I find that I am still the most self-righteous person in the world.

ipod
Although I love my ipod for reasons beyond musical experiences, I find that often what i am listening to needs to be shared, experienced beyond myself. I kind of see the ipod as the ultimate in isolationism (real word?).
Right now I am on a bus full of people, whilst blogging on my phone and listening to what cannot be heard.
Bah

elections results predictions
Well I am sure results are pouring in from across the country, but I have not read anything as of yet. I am still on my way in from work today.
Here is my prediction:
Green upset! The Green party of Canada pulls a surprise victory out of no where, collecting 162 seats. Also Green canidates unseat all the leaders of the big three leaving Canada in a state of shock for at least two days before we all fall asleep again for another four years.
Well, that'd be ideal, but I honestly think there is going to be a Regressive Conservative minority with a three seat gain, the Grits will loose some seats. The Dippers will grab a few. Liberal strong holds and the Green party will capture two seats (not bad all things considered).
That is my election prognostication

PS - still don't know how to properlly mobile blog. Maybe I will give it a shot on my day off tomorrow!

Prayer for the Week
A la Scot McKnight
Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Evangelization/Thought of the day
To evangelize a person is to say to him or her: you, too, are loved by God in the Lord Jesus. And not only to say it but to really think it and relate it to the man or woman so they can sense it. That is what it means to announce the Good News. But that becomes possible only by offering the person your friendship; a friendship that is real, unselfish, without condescension, full of confidence, and profound esteem.
